Privacy Policy

Last updated 18 September 2026

Mkono is a product and service of Imara Labs. Imara Labs is the controller of the personal data described here. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

Who we are

The controller is Imara Labs, registered at 300 Delaware Ave, Wilmington, DE 19801, USA. Contact us about privacy at privacy@mkono.africa.

What we collect

When you apply as an assistant: your first, middle (optional) and last name, email address, phone number, pronouns (optional), country and city, the languages you work in, your years of experience, and how comfortable you are working by phone. If you provide a photo for your profile, we store that.

When you join a client waitlist: your email address, your company, and your country.

When you use the site: a functional cookie that remembers your language, and technical data (including your IP address) processed by our bot-protection provider to keep the forms free of automated abuse.

We do not connect to your email, calendar, or files. There is nothing to grant and nothing to revoke.

How we use it

To vet and match assistants with clients, to operate and improve the Service, to communicate with you about your application or engagement, and to prevent fraud and abuse.

Legal bases

We process your data to take steps at your request and to perform our agreement with you, on the basis of your consent where you have given it, and on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure, fraud-free service.

Who we share it with

We use a small set of service providers who process data on our behalf under agreement: Cloudflare (hosting, database, file storage, and bot protection), Resend (transactional email), and lingo.dev (translation of site content). We do not sell your personal data.

International transfers

Where data is transferred across borders, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (Module Two), an Article 28 processor agreement, and a documented transfer impact assessment.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as it is relevant to providing the Service. You can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing privacy@mkono.africa, and we will do so unless we are required to keep it by law.

Your rights

Subject to local law, you can ask to access, correct, or delete your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email privacy@mkono.africa.

Cookies

We use a functional cookie to remember your language choice, and our bot-protection provider sets what it needs to tell humans from bots. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children

The Service is not for anyone under 18, or under the minimum working age in their country if that is lower. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above shows when. Questions or requests: privacy@mkono.africa.
